Kinberg Earns GPAC Track Athlete of the Week Honors

Nebraska Wesleyan senior Hannah Kinberg has been named this week’s Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.Hannah Kinberg

Kinberg (Lincoln, Neb.) won the 5,000 meter run at the Nebraska Wesleyan Invite held last Friday (Jan. 20) at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Kinberg ran a time of 17:37.7 to easily win the event. Her time is the fastest this season in the GPAC by over 30 seconds and is the fifth best time in all of NCAA Division III. Her performance also gives her the third best time in school history at Nebraska Wesleyan.

Kinberg, a graduate of Lincoln East H.S., was competing in her first indoor event as she has battled injury during her first three seasons of indoor competition. She had an outstanding cross country season this fall earning GPAC Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Year honors.

The Nebraska Wesleyan women’s track & field team moved up to No. 21 in this week’s USTFCCCA/DIII Top 25 poll that was released Wednesday. The Prairie Wolves will compete at the Concordia Invitational this Saturday (Jan. 28) in Seward, Neb.
