Holly Andrews, a 2008 graduate from Nebraska Wesleyan University, is one of 30 honorees selected for the 2008 NCAA Woman Of The Year. The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.
She was selected from over 130 conference honorees as one of the top 30 contenders. From those 30, ten from each NCAA division, nine finalists will be named. The 2008 NCAA Woman of The Year will be chosen from among the nine finalists by the Committee on Women’s Athletics on Sunday, Oct. 19 at a reception in Indianapolis, Ind.
Andrews (Seward, Neb.) was a three-time NCAA III All-American in track & field for NWU during her career from 2005-08. She set a school record and placed third in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2008 NCAA III Outdoor Championships, and also placed third in the 55-meter hurdles at the 2008 NCAA III Indoor Championships.
Besides her three NCAA All-American awards, Andrews was also a 16-time All-GPAC performer and holds school records in the 55-meter hurdles and the 100-meter hurdles. She also holds first-year records in those events.
Andrews graduated in May 2008 from NWU with a 3.99 GPA with an Exercise Science major. She was named a First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-American, and also was one of 58 student-athletes in the nation to receive a $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
Andrews is currently pursuing a master’s degree from the University of South Dakota.
