NWU Women Take GPAC Track & Field Honors

Nebraska Wesleyan University won both GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week honors for the week of Apr. 18-24. Senior Amanda Brickacek was the GPAC Field Events Athlete-of-the-Week while sophomore Taylor Tacha was the GPAC Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

Amanda BrichacekBrichacek (Schuyler, Neb.) won the women’s hammer throw at the Prairie Wolf Invitational with a record breaking throw of 184-6. Her throw broke the Nebraska Wesleyan school record that she had set last season, is now the best throw in the GPAC this season and is the second best throw in all of NCAA Division III this year. She also placed fourth in the women’s shot put with a provisional mark of 44-2.75.

Tacha (Bertrand, Neb.) won two individual events and was part of the 4x100 winning relay team Taylor Tachato lead the Nebraska Wesleyan women to the team title at the Prairie Wolf Invitational. She ran a time of 14.61 in the 100 hurdles, which is the fastest time in the GPAC this season and the sixth fastest time in NCAA III. She also won the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.78 and ran the first leg of the 4x100 relay. Tacha also ran the second leg of the 4x400 relay team that placed second.

Brichacek will be competing at the Hastings Invitational this Saturday in Hastings, Neb., while Tacha will run at the Nebraska Open on Sunday at Ed Weir track on the campus of UNL.
