Women Dominate All-GPAC Tennis Team

The Nebraska Wesleyan women’s tennis team had all six singles players on the Great Plains Athletic Conference All-Conference team that was announced Tuesday (May 11).  All six singles players were on the All-Conference team, while four players were honorable mention in doubles action.

On the All-GPAC singles, NWU had all six individuals on the team.  In No. 1 singles, Chelsea Henslee (Lincoln, Neb.) was All-GPAC after going 7-1 in GPAC play.  She was 14-7 overall after moving up to No. 1 singles during GPAC play.  Henslee, who earned All-GPAC for the third straight year, now has 46 career singles victories to move up to ninth on the All-time list after just three seasons.

At No. 2 singles Terah Maloley (Lexington, Neb.) earned All-GPAC in her first season at NWU.  She was 11-11 overall and 6-2 in GPAC action.  In No. 3 singles, Andrea Dasilva  (Laguna Vista, Texas) was All-GPAC in her first year at NWU.  Dasilva finished 14-9 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

Erica Dickmeyer (Fremont, Neb.) earned All-Conference at No. 4 singles with a perfect 8-0 record in GPAC action.  Dickmeyer was 15-6 overall in her freshman season.  Sophomore Molly Andrews (Lincoln, Neb.) earns her first All-GPAC recognition at No. 5 singles after going 11-10 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

Rounding out the All-GPAC singles for NWU is junior Vanessa Johnson (Lincoln, Neb.). Johnson was 10-5 overall and 6-1 in GPAC play.

In doubles, Dasilva and Dickmeyer earned honorable mention at No. 2 doubles while the tandem of Maloley and Taylor Powers (Hastings, Neb.) were honorable mention at No. 3 doubles.  Dasilva and Dickmeyer were 10-6 overall, 6-2 in GPAC, while Maloley/Powers were 15-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

Nebraska Wesleyan finished the 2010 season with a 12-11 record and finished second in both the GPAC regular season and GPAC tournament.
