Nebraska Wesleyan took two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches as they picked up their first victory of the 2010 season with a 7-2 win over Bethany College on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 13) at the Knight Fieldhouse in Lincoln. The Prairie Wolves lost their first match of the day, 6-3, to William Jewell College. The NWU women improve to 1-3 early on this season.
In the victory over Bethany, the Prairie Wolves were victorious at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles winning with scores of 8-2 and 8-3.
The singles matches were also dominated by NWU as they won every match except No. 1 singles. The Prairie Wolves won all five matches in just two sets.
Against William Jewell in the first match of the day, Nebraska Wesleyan picked up three victories. Terah Maloley teamed up with Taylor Powers to win 8-6 in No. 3 doubles for the only doubles win. In singles action, Andrea Dasilva won her match at No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-2) and Molly Andrews was a winner over her opponent at No. 6 singles (6-0, 6-3).
NWU will now have two weeks off before their next match on Feb. 27 against Nebraska-Kearney.
