Women's Tennis Opens Season With Loss

The Nebraska Wesleyan women's tennis team opened their 2010 season on Wednesday (Feb. 3) with a match against the University of Arkansas-Little Rock at the Nebraska Tennis Center in Lincoln. The Prairie Wolves lost, 9-0, to the NCAA Division I Opponent.

NWU did manage to win some games against the Trojans who improved to 4-2 on the season. The three doubles matches finished 8-0, 8-1, 8-1.

In singles action, Lexie Zoucha battled at No. 1 singles falling to Anne Weijenborg, 6-2, 6-0. Newcomer Andrea Dasilva lost 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, while Vanessa Johnson and Taylor Powers lost 6-0, 6-1 each at No. 5 & 6 singles, respectively.

Earlier this week, Arkansas-Little Rock had defeated Nebraska-Omaha, 7-0, and Creighton, 5-2.

This was the first of two matches this week for Nebraska Wesleyan as they kick off their 2010 campaign. The Prairie Wolves take on Nebraska-Omaha on Friday in Omaha starting at 6 pm.
