The NAIA has released the bracket for the 2012 NAIA Women’s National Championships that will be held May 15-19 in Mobile, Ala., at the Mobile Tennis Center. The Nebraska Wesleyan women, who received an automatic bid to the NAIA Championships, will face Savananah College of Art and Design (SCAD) on Tuesday (May 15) in a 9 a.m., first round match.
The Prairie Wolves earned an automatic berth for the tournament by winning the 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament. NWU is making their fifth trip to the national tournament, marking five times in the last six seasons that the NWU women’s tennis teams has made the NAIA National Tournament.
This will be the second consecutive season that Nebraska Wesleyan has met SCAD Savannah in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament. Last season SCAD Savannah defeated the Prairie Wolves 9-0.
NWU is 12-9 overall on the season and received the No. 20 seed in the tournament. The SCAD Bees are ranked No. 13 in the final NAIA Top 25 poll and received the No. 13 seed. SCAD is 9-3 overall on the season. The winner of the SCAD-NWU match will face No. 4 seed Oklahoma Christian the next day in the second round.
