Women Win GPAC Tennis Regular Season Title

Nebraska Wesleyan defeated Morningside College, 5-4, on Saturday (Apr. 28) in Sioux City, Iowa to claim the 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference women's tennis regular season championship.

The Prairie Wolves finish undefeated in GPAC play for the second straight season as they finished 7-0 in the GPAC. NWU also snapped Morningside's nine-match winning streak.

With the victory, the Prairie Wolves also receive the No. 1 seed in the GPAC Tennis Postseason Tournament May 4-5 in Fremont, Neb.

Nebraska Wesleyan won all three doubles matches over the Mustangs to take a 3-0 lead. The Prairie Wolves then won just two singles matches.

Terah Maloley won at No. 3 singles defeating Mary Horton, 4-6, 6-2, 10-7. Hannah Husmann won at No. 4 singles in scores of 6-1, 6-3.

Two of NWU's singles losses were in three sets. Erika Dickmeyer lost 6-2, 2-6, 4-10 to Amanda Przymus at No. 2 singles and Nicole Jacobson lost 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 at No. 5 singles.
