Nebraska Wesleyan improved to 5-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play as the Prairie Wolves defeated Northwestern College, 6-3, and Briar Cliff University, 9-0, in women's tennis action on Saturday (Apr. 14) in Lincoln.

The Prairie Wolves also evened their overall record at 8-8 for the 2012 season.

Against Northwestern, NWU took two of three doubles matches. Terah Maloley and Hannah Husmann won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles, with Nicole Jacobson and Molly Andrews winning 8-0 at No. 3 doubles. The Red Raiders No. 1 doubles team won 8-5.

The top two Northwestern players were also winners in singles action as NWU lost at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.

However, the Prairie Wolves won the four other singles matches. Maloley won at No. 3 (6-3, 6-1), Husmann won at No. 4 (6-2, 6-3), Jacobson won at No. 5 (6-2, 6-0) while Andrews had the longest match winning 6-4, 2-6, 11-9 at No. 6 singles.

In the match with Briar Cliff, the dual was shortened due to the weather. The Prairie Wolves won all three doubles matches, 8-0, 8-0 and 8-3. Each singles set was played to 10 and NWU made quick work of the Chargers. Maria Mota won her No. 1 singles match, 10-3, for the closest match of the day. Erica Dickmeyer won at No. 2 singles, 10-2, Hannah Husmann won at No. 4, 10-2. Jacobson was a 10-1 winner at No. 5, while Maloley and Andrews were 10-0 winners.
