Women Earn All-GPAC in Tennis

The Nebraska Wesleyan women’s tennis team was well represented on the Great Plains Athletic Conference All-Conference team that was announced Thursday (May 14). Four NWU women earned All-GPAC in singles and one doubles teams was also All-GPAC. Two other individuals and a doubles team received All-GPAC honorable mention.

On the All-GPAC singles, NWU had four individuals on the team. In No. 1 singles, Mikayla Albin (Hastings, Neb.) was All-GPAC after going 3-3 in GPAC play. She was 5-15 overall and finished her career with 39 wins.

At No. 2 singles Chelsea Henslee (Lincoln, Neb.) earned All-GPAC for the second straight season. She was 15-5 overall and 6-1 in GPAC play.

Mikaela Caudill (Lincoln, Neb.) earned All-Conference at No. 4 singles with a perfect 7-0 record in GPAC action. Caudill was 17-3 overall and earns her fourth All-GPAC honors. She finished fifth all-time with 49 victories.

Senior Sarah Howe (Hastings, Neb.) earned her second straight All-GPAC honor with her second straight perfect season in GPAC play. She was 15-5 overall.

Lexie Zoucha and Becca Brown both received honorable mention recognition.

In doubles, Henslee and Howe teamed up to earn All-GPAC at No. 2 doubles. They were undefeated in GPAC for the second straight year at 8-0. The twosome was 15-0 over the past two seasons.

Earning honorable mention All-GPAC in doubles were Caudill and Brown.

Nebraska Wesleyan finished the 2009 season with a 12-11 record and claimed the GPAC Tournament Championships. The Prairie Wolves advanced to the NAIA National Championships for the third straight year.
