Howe, Caudill Named Academic All-District

Nebraska Wesleyan University senior women’s tennis players Sarah Howe and Mikaela Caudill were named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women’s at-large team that was announced on Thursday (May 21). Howe and Caudill were voted to the District 7 First-Team in the college division.

 

Both Howe and Caudill are now eligible for CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® honors. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team for women’s at-large will be announced on

June 11.

Howe (Hastings, Neb.) has a 3.94 GPA in Psychology. She was All-GPAC in both singles and doubles this season. She was 15-5

at No. 5 singles and 15-8 in doubles. She was a perfect 8-0 in both singles and doubles in GPAC this season, and has never lost a GPAC match in her career. This is the second straight season Howe was named to the Academic All-District First-Team.

Caudill (Lincoln, Neb.) carries a 3.78 GPA in Spanish. She was All-GPAC at No. 4 singles and honorable mention All-GPAC in doubles. She led the team with a 17-3 singles record on the season and was a perfect 7-0 in the GPAC. She finished 9-11 in doubles action.

Mikaela CaudillThe At-large section represents athletes from the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.

Student-athletes must meet four criteria to earn ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District honors: 1) must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better, 2) must have at least two terms of attendance at the institution, 3) must be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility, 4) must be a starter or key reserve in their respective sport.

The All-District selection is determined by voting of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District VII is comprised of NCAA Division II and Division III and NAIA institutions from the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
