Nebraska Wesleyan University moved up three spots to No. 21 in the second NAIA Women’s Tennis Coaches Top 25 poll that was released on Tuesday (Feb. 19). It is the highest ranking ever for the NWU Women's tennis team.
The Prairie Wolves, received 114 total points this week to sit at 21st in the rankings after being ranked No. 21 in the preseason poll. NWU is the lone GPAC team that is ranked in the NAIA Top 25. Auburn Montgomery remains No. 1 in the poll with all 13 first place votes. NWU's appearance in the preseason ranking was the first time they have been ranked since 2003.
Nebraska Wesleyan is 1-4 to start the 2013 season with its lone victory coming last Saturday (Feb. 16) against then #20 Bethel College. All four of the Prairie Wolves losses are to teams in higher divisions of competition with three losses to NCAA Division II teams and one loss to a NCAA Division I opponent.
The Prairie Wolves are now off until March 2, when they face Westminster College in Kansas City.
