Nebraska Wesleyan remained on attack until the final seconds but they couldn't overcome the two goal deficit as Coe College defeated NWU, 2-1, in NCAA III women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 16) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln.
Coe (5-1-1) scored the first goal of the match in the first half as Danica Mason scored off a deflection. That would be the lone goal of the first half as the score remained 1-0 at halftime.
In the second half the Kohawks struck again, this time Brittni Viehman scored off a rebound in the 74th minute to put Coe up 2-0.
Just five minutes later Nebraska Wesleyan finally got on the board as Ashlee Slade scored the first goal of her collegiate career.
NWU kept the pressure on the final 20 minutes of the match but could not convert on any opportunities. NWU finished with nine shots, six on goal while Coe had six shots.
