Menning Sisters Named Academic All-District

Nebraska Wesleyan University junior soccer players Aleisha Menning and Melanie Menning were both named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women’s soccer team that was announced.  The Menning’s were voted to the District 7 Second-Team in the college division.

Aleisha MenningAleisha Menning from Hastings, Neb., has a 3.98 GPA in Biology/Spanish.  She has started all 18 games this season as a defender for the NWU women’s team.  She has now started 53 games during her career and was a GPAC Pflieger-Olson Athlete last season.

 

Melanie MenningMelanie Menning, also from Hastings, Neb., has a perfect 4.0 GPA in Biology/Spanish.  She started every during the 2009 season as defender for the Prairie Wolves.  During her three-year career, she has started all 54 games and was named a GPAC Pflieger-Olson Scholar Athlete.

The two NWU players were the only two Great Plains Athletic Conference players among the 37 players named to the First, Second and Third teams.

Student-athletes must meet four criteria to earn ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District honors: 1) must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better, 2) must have at least two terms of attendance at the institution, 3) must be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility, 4) must be a starter or key reserve in their respective sport.

The All-District selection is determined by voting of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District VII is comprised of NCAA Division II and Division III and NAIA institutions from the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
