GPAC rivals Nebraska Wesleyan and Doane College battled the elements and ended in a 0-0 tie in a women's soccer match held Wednesday night (Oct. 14) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.
The match was played in a constant rain with the temperature around 40 degrees the entire match. Neither team was able to score as the match ended scoreless in double overtime.
Doane outshot NWU, 19-8, but the Prairie Wolves goalie Emily Dierks recorded eight saves in the match to prevent the Tigers from scoring. NWU managed just three shots on goal as much of the game was played on Doane's side of the field. However, the NWU defense proved strong and held off the Tiger offense.
It was the third tie of the season for Nebraska Wesleyan as their record moves to 4-7-3 overall and 0-5-3 in the GPAC. Doane is now 5-6-1 and 4-3-1 in GPAC play.
