Warriors Shut Out NWU Women

Midland Lutheran College scored two goals in the middle of the second half and then held on for a 2-0 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University in Great Plains Athletic Conference women's soccer action on Wednesday (Oct. 8) in Fremont, Neb.

The Warriors improve to 6-4-1 overall and 4-2 in the GPAC, while NWU falls to 3-8-1 overall, 2-3-1 in GPAC.

Neither team was able to score in the first half as the half ended tied at 0-0. Midland finally scored a goal in the 70th minute when Natasha Heil scored the eventual game-winning goal. Less than two minutes later, Shannon Ostby scored a goal to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.

NWU had only four total shots in the game, compared to 10 for Midland Lutheran.

The Prairie Wolves return home on Saturday (Oct. 11) evening when they host Dakota Wesleyan University in a GPAC match at 6 pm. The game will be the final home athletic activity to go along with the 2008 NWU Homecoming festivites.
