Samantha Exstrom scored four goals to lead Doane College to a 4-2 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference women's soccer match on Wednesday (Oct. 15) in Crete, Neb. The win for Doane was the first victory over NWU in women's soccer in 14 matches.
The Prairie Wolves fall to 3-9-2 overall and 2-4-2 in the GPAC, while Doane improves its record to 9-4-1 and 5-2-1 in GPAC play.
Exstrom, who leads the GPAC with 17 goals, scored two goals in the first half to put the Tigers up 2-0 at intermission. She then came out in the second half and scored two more goals in the first 10 minutes to put Doane up 4-0.
NWU did manage to add two goals of their own in the second half, but it wouldn't be enough. Jamie Essink scored at the 68:11 mark and Libby Slater found the open net in the 75th minute.
Each team had nine shots on goal in the match.
Nebraska Wesleyan returns home this Saturday to face Morningside College in a GPAC match at 6 pm at Abel Stadium.
