Morningside College scored two first half goals and added another in the second half as the Mustangs shutout Nebraska Wesleyan, 3-0 in GPAC women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 22) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln.
Maggie Kukuk got the scoring started just five minutes into the match as she scored at the 5:16 mark to put the Mustangs up 1-0.
Brooke Martin scored the next goal of the match in the 23rd minute for a 2-0 lead that would stand until halftime.
The final goal of the match was scored in the 78th minute as Miranda Gonka found the open net on a breakaway.
NWU managed seven total shots with four shots on goal. Alyssa Reed and Brittney Kleinhesselink combined for the shutout for the Mustangs.
Morningside improves to 9-7-1 overall and 4-5 in GPAC, while Nebraska Wesleyan falls to 5-11, 2-6 GPAC. The Prairie Wolves will now enter their final week of the season with two matches.
