Tigers Run Past Prairie Wolves 5-0

October 5, 2011

Doane College scored three goals within five minutes of each other in the first half as the Tigers ran past Nebraska Wesleyan, 5-0, in Great Plains Athletic Conference women's soccer action on Wednesday night (Oct. 5) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln.

The Tigers remain undefeated in GPAC play at 3-0 in the league and 5-2-2 overall while the short-handed Prairie Wolves fall to 3-8, 1-3 GPAC.

Doane dominated the majority of the match as they had 27 shots in the match, compared to just eight for the Prairie Wolves.

The score could have been much worse without the solid play of NWU goalkeeper Emily Dierks. Dierks had 11 total saves in the match, as the Tigers had 16 total shots on goal.

Courtney Richards scored two goals in the first half to lead Doane.  Kasey Hoppes and Krystal Lozier also scored in the first half as Doane led 4-0 at halftime.  The lone goal of the second half came during the 58th minute as Jen Cushing scored a goal.

NWU will be back at home this Saturday afternoon (Oct. 9) for a match with Dakota Wesleyan.
