Central Scores in Final Minutes for 1-0 Win

In a match that appeared to be headed to overtime, Central College scored a goal with just 1:02 left in the match to earn a 1-0 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in a NCAA III women's soccer match on Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 7) in Pella, Iowa.

NWU falls to 1-3 overall, while Central remains undefeated at 3-0.

Neither team was able to find the open net for most of the match as the score was 0-0 at intermission. NWU attempted five shots in the first 45 minutes compared to eight for Central.

Central had 11 total shots in the second half, but NWU goalie Emily Dierks recorded three saves to keep the Dutch out of the goal.

Finally, Alayna Bailey broke the scoring drought as she scored with 1:02 left for the game-winning goal.

The Dutch ended the match with 19 total shots, with the Prairie Wolves attempting only six.
