Nebraska Wesleyan University had a pair of players named to the Great Plains Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer All-Conference team that was announced Tuesday (Nov. 10).  Juniors Jamie Essink and Alison Frohn were both honorable mention All-GPAC selections.

Nebraska Wesleyan University junior soccer players Aleisha Menning and Melanie Menning were both named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women’s soccer team that was announced.  The Menning’s were voted to the District 7 Second-Team in the college division.

Jamie Essink scored the game-winning goal with 3 seconds left in the match to give Nebraska Wesleyan a 2-1 victory over Central College in the season opener for the Prairie Wolves. Central had tied the match under a minute remaining but NWU rallied for the win.

The Great Plains Athletic Conference has released its 2009 preseason coaches polls for both the men and the women. The Nebraska Wesleyan men were picked to finish fifth, while the NWU women were picked to finish ninth. Hastings College was the coaches choice to win the men's championship, while Dordt College was picked as the women's favorite.

Nebraska Wesleyan University first-year head soccer coach Mike Lynch has released the names of 14 recruits, eight men and six women who plan to compete in soccer this fall for the Prairie Wolves. In addition, Lynch has announced the addition of four assistant coaches who will join the NWU coaching staff for the 2009 season.
