Three Late Goals Give NWU 3-2 Win Over Tigers

Nebraska Wesleyan scored three consecutive second half goals as the Prairie Wolves picked up their second conference win of the year with a 3-2 win over Dakota Wesleyan University on Saturday (Oct. 6) at the Pepsi Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.

NWU improved to 3-8-2 overall, 2-2-1 in GPAC while DWU falls to 2-6, 2-3 in GPAC.

Dakota Wesleyan scored the only goal of the first half as the Tigers led 1-0 after the first 45 minutes. The Tigers added another goal in the second half as Yutzil Rodriguez scored to put the Tigers up 2-0.

From there, it was all Nebraska Wesleyan. Freshman Ashlee Slade scored back-to-back goals to tie the match at 2-2. Then Jenna Herse scored the game-winner to put NWU up 3-2 and they would hold on for the victory.

Nebraska Wesleyan had 10 total shots in the match, while DWU was able to only attempt seven.

The Prairie Wolves now have a week of before their next match on Saturday (Oct. 13) when they host Mount Marty.
