Emily Dierks Named GPAC Soccer Defensive Player of Week

Nebraska Wesleyan senior women’s soccer player Emily Dierks has been named this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the week of Sept. 24-30.

Emily DierksDierks (Lincoln, Neb.) helped shut down the opponents and lead the Prairie Wolves to a 1-0-1 record on the week. Dierks played 200 minutes on the week and allowed just one goal in the two matches. She gave up just one goal in the 1-1 tie to Midland University, then posted a shutout in the 4-0 victory over Dordt College on Saturday night.

In the tie match versus Midland, Dierks recorded 10 total saves. She now has 66 saves on the season. The shutout was her first shutout victory of the year, and her 15th shutout of her career which ranks 4th in NWU history. Her 327 career saves also ranks fourth all-time at Nebraska Wesleyan.

The Prairie Wolves have two road GPAC matches this week traveling to Doane College on Wednesday, then to Dakota Wesleyan University on Saturday.
