NWU Women Shutout Defenders For First GPAC Win

Nebraska Wesleyan scored a goal in the first seven minutes of the match and never looked back as the Prairie Wolves shutout Dordt College, 4-0, in GPAC women's soccer action on Saturday night (Sept. 29) at Abel Stadium.

NWU got their first conference win of the season as they improve to 2-7-2 overall and 1-1-1 in GPAC. Dordt falls to 1-7-2, 0-3 in GPAC play.

Ashlee Slade got the Prairie Wolves on the board early with a goal off an assist from Amber Johnson at the 6:51 mark. That would be the only goal of the first half as the Prairie Wolves led 1-0.

Just over a minute into the second half the Prairie Wolves added another goal with Shannon Surber finding the open net. The combination of Johnson to Slade connected again during the 75th minute as Slade got her second goal of the match to put NWU up by three.

NWU added another goal late with Johnson getting the goal from an assist by Hannah Hussey to give NWU the 4-0 victory.

Emily Dierks posted the shutout for the Prairie Wolves. NWU controlled most of the match with 21 total shots, compared to just two for Dordt.
