Hastings Hands NWU First GPAC Loss

September 22, 2010

Hastings College scored two goals in the first 20 minutes and held on to give Nebraska Wesleyan University their first conference loss of the year as the Broncos defeated the Prairie Wolves, 2-0, in GPAC women's soccer action at Abel Stadium on Wednesday night (Sept. 22).

The Prairie Wolves fall to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in GPAC play, while Hastings improves to 2-4-1, 1-0-1 GPAC.

Hastings got on the board in the first 10 minutes as Amanda Olson scored on a breakaway. The next goal came only eight minutes later as Esmeralda Lacayo found the open net at the 17:53 mark.

The two goals scored were just the second and third goals scored against NWU goalie Emily Dierks this season.

NWU had a few chances late in the second half to find the open net, but Hastings goalie Megan Kreifels recorded five saves.

Nebraska Wesleyan will be back at home on Saturday night (Sept. 25) when they host Dordt College.
