Women Open GPAC Play With Win Over Morningside

Nebraska Wesleyan scored three second half goals and posted their sixth shutout of the season as they opened Great Plains Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 victory over Morningside College on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 19) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.

The win gives the Nebraska Wesleyan women a 6-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in the GPAC.

Regina O'Donnell started the scoring for Nebraska Wesleyan in the 65th minute to put the Prairie Wolves ahead 1-0. The next goal came during the 78th minute as Jamie Essink scored off the corner kick from Alison Frohn. Frohn then closed out the scoring by finding the back of the net on a pass from Maddie Pfeil.

NWU goalkeeper Emily Dierks added another shutout on the year as she recorded her sixth shutout of the year and has allowed just one goal all season.
