Nebraska Wesleyan improved its team score by 22 strokes from Monday to Tuesday as the Prairie Wolves women finished 16th with a team score of 750 at the Doane College/NAIA Preview Invitational that was played Sept. 24-25 at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln.
A record 22 teams played in the Doane Invite this season which acted as a preview for the NAIA National Tournament that will be played in Lincoln in May, as well as a preview of the GPAC Qualifier #2 that will be held Oct. 3.
Teams from eight different states played in the tournament with four of the Top 15 teams from last year's NAIA National meet competing.
Lubbock Christian University won the invite with a score of 592 (+24) defeating William Woods by 24 strokes. Sinae Montoya from Lubbock Christian was the individual winner with a tournament record score of 2-under par 140.
NWU shot a 386 on Monday but came back to post a team score of 364 on Tuesday. Leading the way for the Prairie Wolves was freshman Megan Rokusek who finished tied for 43rd with a 176 (89-87). Another freshman Kelsey Marshall improved her score by seven strokes on Tuesday to finish at 181 (94-87) to tie for 53rd.
Also finishing in the top four for the Prairie Wolves was Alex Wiemers in 70th (102-88) and Elizabeth Cox in 84th (101-103). Jessyca Herman also played for NWU and shot a 213 (111-102).
