Women Finish 7th at GPAC Golf Championships

Facing windy and rainy conditions, scores were high the fourth and final GPAC Women's Golf Qualifier that was held April 27 at Green Valley Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa.

Nebraska Wesleyan shot a team score of 405 for the eighth best score of the day, but the Prairie Wolves held on to finish seventh overall at the 2011-12 GPAC Women's Golf Championships.

The Prairie Wolves had a four-round total of 1527, 11 strokes better than eighth place Dordt College. Dakota Wesleyan University was the GPAC Women's Golf Team Champion with a total of 192 to defeat second place Northwestern College by 46 strokes.

Just one NWU player was able to break 100 on Friday as the conditions were less than ideal. Jessyca Herman fired a round of 97 to pace the Prairie Wolves. Alex Wiemers shot 100, while Brianna Beard and Sarah Hotovy both shot 104.

Wiemers was the top overall finisher for NWU as she placed 16th individually with a 373 (84-95-94-100). Brittany Dinkel fell back to a tie for 21st with her total of 382 (92-95-90-105). Two other NWU players competed in all four GPAC Qualifiers and finished 31st and 32nd, respectively. Sarah Hotovy was 31st and Brianna Beard was 32nd.

Dani Bellett from Dakota Wesleyan was the individual champion to win her fourth straight GPAC title.
