Dakota Wesleyan University shot a two-day team total of 657 and had the individual winner in Dani Bellett as the Tigers won the 2012 NWU Women's Golf Spring Invitational that was played Apr. 1-2 in Lincoln. Day 1 was played at Mahoney Golf Course, with the final round held at Holmes G.C.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished fifth as a team in the field of 12 teams competing. The Prairie Wolves had a team score of 741 to edge Doane College by one stroke for fifth place. NWU shot a 356 on Sunday, then came back with a 385 on Monday.
Brittany Dinkel, the NWU No. 1 golfer that was tied for eighth after day one, was unable to complete her round on Monday due to a shoulder injury. Brianna Beard (86-98) and Alex Wiemers (92-92) both tied for 27th overall with 184 to lead the Prairie Wolves. Sarah Hotovy (194) finished 42nd and Jessyca Herman was 48th (196) to round out the NWU scoring.
Dakota Wesleyan had four players finish in the top 10 led by All-American Bellet who won the tournament. The Tigers defeated Morningside College by 10 strokes in the team results. Sophie Peters from Morningside was second with a score of 152 (73-79).
