Alyssa McBride shot an outstanding round of 79 to move up to ninth place overall after Monday's (Oct. 5) GPAC Women's Golf Qualifier #2 that was played at Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb. As a team, Nebraska Wesleyan shot a team score of 362 to remain in eighth place.
Dakota Wesleyan had a big day as they shot a team score of 311 to increase their overall team lead by 19 strokes over Sioux Falls. Danielle Bellet from DWU shot a 2-under 71 to take over the individual lead with a two day total of 148. She leads teammate Kelli Baseley by six strokes.
McBride's 79 on Monday was the fourth lowest individual score. She now has a two round total of 160 (81-79) to stand alone in ninth place. She is just four shots back of third and six strokes out of second place in the individual race.
NWU remained consistent as a team posting a 362 after shooting 361 in the first GPAC Qualifier on Sept. 15 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Behind DWU and Sioux Falls, the team race is very close as five teams are within 11 strokes in places 3-7.
For NWU, Sarah Hotovy and Kiley Miller are both tied for 33rd after two rounds with scores of 187. Lindsey Keyes (193) and Katie Knispel (203) round out the scoring for the Prairie Wolves.
Nebraska Wesleyan has now completed their fall portion of the schedule. They will resume the 2009-10 season in the spring with the final two GPAC qualifiers and additional tournaments.
