Nebraska-Omaha shot a team score of 636 to edge Truman State University by three strokes to win the team title at the Nebraska Wesleyan Women’s Golf Fall Invitational that concluded Monday (Oct. 6) at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb. A total of 12 teams competed in the two-day event.
Kelli Baseley from Dakota Wesleyan University shot a 2-over 74 on Monday to finish with a two-day total of 154 to win individual medalist honors. Julie Williams from Truman State was second with a 155, while teammate Krystal Limsiaco was third at 156.
Nebraska-Omaha led by five strokes after the first day of play at Pioneers Golf Course and had a 314 on Monday to hold off Truman State. The Bulldogs had the low team score of the day with a 312, but they could only make up two strokes. DWU was third with a 667 after improving by 25 strokes on Monday.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished in a tie for eighth place in the team standings. The Prairie Wolves improved their team score by four strokes to finish at 726 to tie Midland Lutheran College. Sarah Hannon was the top individual for NWU with two rounds of 87 to place 24th. Alyssa McBride was only two strokes back at 176 (88-88) to tie for 25th.
Sarah Hotovy (94-92) and Sarah Johnson (96-94) rounded out the team scoring for NWU. Caitlin Bennett (101-110) competed for NWU as an individual.
This concludes the fall season for the Nebraska Wesleyan women’s golf team.
