Midland University shot a two-day total of 695 to defeat Nebraska Wesleyan by 53 strokes as they won the team title a the two-day 2011 NWU Spring Invite that concluded on Monday (Apr. 4) at Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb.
Sam Pingel and Kaitlyn Meyer from Midland both shot 170 to tie for the individual title, but Pingel was declared the winner in a scorecard playoff.
Day two was played in cool and very windy conditions at Pioneers Golf Course.
NWU was led by freshman Brittney Dinkel who had a two-day total of 177 to place sixth individually. Dinkel shot an 88 on Monday for the second lowest round on the day.
Two other Prairie Wolves golfers placed in the top 15 as Kiley Miller was 12th finishing at 188 (92-96) while Sarah Hotovy tied for 13th with a 190 (96-94). Rounding out the Prairie Wolves scoring was Sarah Johnson at 193 (92-101) to place 16th.
Midland had four players in the top 10 to win the team title. Behind NWU, Doane was third place (770), Peru State fourth (774), Hastings fifth (790) and Concordia sixth (807).
