Rasmussen 2nd Team, Struebing H.M. All-AD3I

Nebraska Wesleyan University women’s basketball players Shea Rasmussen and Sadie Struebing were both named to the 2010 All-Independent Women’s Basketball teams that were announced today (Mar. 16) by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I).

Rasmussen was named to the All AD3I Second-Team while Struebing was named honorable mention.

Shea RasmussenRasmussen (Longmont, Colo.) was the team’s leading scorer at 12.8 points per game.  She was the team’s top 3-point shooter as well hitting 46 from beyond the arc which was the sixth highest season total in school history.  Rasmussen reached double figures in 19 of 25 games and has now scored in double figures in 30 of 36 career games.  She scored 20+ points three times including a season-high 24 points in a victory over MacMurray.  Rasmussen also was named to the All-GPAC honorable mention team.

Sadie StruebingStruebing (Brainard, Neb.) was the team leader in rebounds at 6.4 per game and was second on the team in scoring at 9.3 points per game.  This is Struebings’ second All-AD3I honor as she was on the Second-Team in 2008. The East Butler H.S., graduate scored in double figures in 12 games with two double-doubles.  For her career, she now is sixth in NWU history in rebounds (557) and third in blocked shots (93).  Struebing is one of only eight NWU players to have reached 700 career points and 500 career rebounds.

Nebraska Wesleyan finished the 2009-10 season with a 7-18 overall record.

The All-Independent Women’s Basketball teams were selected by the women’s basketball coaches from AD3I member schools.
