#11 Morningside Ends NWU Season With Loss

11th-ranked Morningside College hit 13 3-point baskets and jumped out to an early 18-0 lead and never looked back as they defeated Nebraska Wesleyan University, 76-41, in the final game of the season for the Prairie Wolves women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 20) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln.

The game was the second annual Pink Zone Event as NWU wore pink uniforms for the contest. The loss ends Nebraska Wesleyan's season with a 7-18 overall record and a 4-14 mark in the GPAC. Morningside ends the regular season at 19-10 and 12-6 in GPAC.

Tanaeya Wordyn scored 15 of Morningsides first 19 points as the Mustangs raced out to a 20-3 lead. The Mustangs had a 46-20 advantage at halftime.

The pressure defense for Morningside forced NWU into 23 turnovers and held the Prairie Wolves to just 28.8 percent shooting from the field.

Shea Rasmussen was the only NWU player to reach double figures as she scored 14 points with four 3-pointers. Sadie Struebing had six points with nine rebounds.

Worden finished with 22 for Morningside hitting 4-5 from 3-point range. Chelsea Trask scored 12 poitns and Lindsay Determan added 10 points.

Nebraska Wesleyan does not have any seniors on their roster as they are expected to return all their players next season.
