Fourth-ranked Briar Cliff University used a full court pressure defense to roll past Nebraska Wesleyan, 84-36, on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 30) in GPAC women's basketball action.

The Chargers, ranked No. 4 in this week's NAIA II poll, forced NWU into 37 turnovers and held the Prairie Wolves to 25.5 percent shooting.

Briar Cliff jumped out to a big 47-13 lead at halftime, as NWU went only 3-19 from the field.

Liz Grider, the nation's top scorer, scored 19 of her game-high 27 points in the first half as she single handily outscored NWU by six points. Grider finished 9-20 from the floor with 27 points in just 24 minutes.

The Prairie Wolves hit a 3-pointer early to take a 3-2 lead, but they would not hit another field goal for nearly six minutes. BCU struggled early as well, leading 8-6 at the 12:45 mark before going on a 22-5 run in the next six minutes.

NWU falls to 7-12 overall and 4-8 in the GPAC. Mallory Shanahan was the only NWU player to reach double figures with 11 points and five rebounds. Sadie Struebing added eight rebounds.

BCU improves to 21-3 and 10-2 in the GPAC.
