The Nebraska Wesleyan women shot 50.0 percent from the field and hit 10 3-pointers as they snapped their three-game losing streak with a 70-66 victory over Midland Lutheran College on Monday night (Jan. 18) in Great Plains Athletic Conference women's basketball action.

NWU improves to 5-10 overall and 2-6 in the GPAC, while the Warriors fall to 7-14 and 2-7.

The Prairie Wolves trailed 66-65 with 2:26 to play until freshman Janelle Baal nailed a 3-pointer with just over two minutes to play to put the Wolves up by two points. NWU then shut down the Warriors on their next two possessions. With under 30 seconds to play, Sadie Struebing drove down the right side and hit a lay-up to put NWU up by four and seal the victory.

It was the 3-point shooting that was the difference for NWU going 10-22 from beyond the arc and six different players hitting 3-pointers. Four different players reached double figures in scoring as it was a balanced attack for the Wolves.

Shea Rasmussen scored 17 to lead the way hitting three 3-pointers. Sadie Struebing was strong in the post scoring 15 points and freshman Mallory Shanahan added 14. Jordan Weinandt came off the bench to score 11 with two 3-pointers.

Kelli Hermsmeyer led the Warriors with 23 points and nine rebounds. Kerry Butzke scored 13 points as the Warriors shot 38.6 percent as a team.

NWU will be right back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Hastings, Neb., to face top 5 ranked Hastings College.
