Women's Basketball Opens Season 2-0

For the first time since the 2000-01 season, the Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team has opened the season with a 2-0 record after their 78-73 victory over Edgewood College on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 21) at the Cornell College Classic in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

The Prairie Wolves had to overcome a 11 point second half deficit to earn their second victory of the season. With just under eight minutes to play in the game, NWU trailed 61-50.

NWU would not overtake the lead until 1:19 to play in the game when freshman Katie Fagot nailed a 3-pointer to put the Prairie Wolves up 71-70. NWU would never trail again as they shot 7-8 from the free throw line in the final minute.

Katy Golden had a big game for the Prairie Wolves scoring 21 points going 8-9 from the free throw line and 3-4 from 3-point range. Janelle Baal scored 12 points and Sadie Struebing and Shea Rasmussen each added 10 points.

Nebraska Wesleyan will make their home debut on Tuesday night as they host Hastings College in the GPAC opening game at 6 pm.
