Rasmussen Becomes Academic All-American

Nebraska Wesleyan University senior women’s basketball player Shea Rasmussen continues to add to her successful career as she was named to the Second-Team of the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Women’s Basketball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.Shea Rasmussen

Rasmussen is just the third NWU women’s basketball player in school history to earn Academic All-America® recognition and the first since 1988.

Rasmussen, a Longmont, Colo., native, has a 3.89 GPA as an Athletic Training major. She was the team’s leading scorer this season averaging 17.0 points per game to rank third in the GPAC in scoring. Rasmussen made 70 3-pointers on the season to rank 10th in the NAIA II in 3-pointers. Her 426 points this season was the third highest total in school history.

The Longmont H.S., graduate ended her career as one of the most prolific scorers in school history. She finished with 1,292 career points to rank third on the NWU all-time scoring list. She set the school record with 199 made 3-pointers in her career. Her free throw percentage of 81.9 percent is the second highest in school history.

Nebraska Wesleyan University now has produced 119 Academic All-Americans® to rank 10th among all schools at all levels in the number of Academic All-Americans®.

The Capital One College Division Academic All-America® basketball teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
