Nebraska Wesleyan University senior Shea Rasmussen was named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Women’s Basketball team that was announced on Thursday (Feb. 2). She was voted to the District 6 First-Team in the College division.
Rasmussen now advances to the national ballot for Capital One/Academic All-America recognition that will be announced Feb. 20.
Rasmussen, a Longmont, Colo., native, has a 3.89 GPA as an Athletic Training major. She is the team’s leading scorer this season averaging 16.9 points per game to rank fourth in the GPAC in scoring. Rasmussen has made 55 3-pointers on the season. She has led the team in scoring 13 times this season.
The Longmont H.S., graduate has had a storied four-year career at NWU. She has now played in 83 games and already holds the school record for career 3-pointers with 184. She has moved up to fourth on the NWU all-time scoring charts with 1,220 points. Rasmussen is a two-time honorable mention All-GPAC performer.
Seven players were named to the District 6 First-Team in the college division. Joining Rasmusen on the team are Shelby Babcock and Montric Santee from Kansas Wesleyan, Amanda Hart and Elizabeth Lamb from Dakota Wesleyan, Morgan Dubas from Doane and Courtney Hamblin from Dakota State.
Student-athletes must meet four criteria to earn Capital One Academic All-District honors: 1) must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better, 2) must have at least two terms of attendance at the institution, 3) must be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility, 4) must be a starter or key reserve in their respective sport.
The All-District selection is determined by voting of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
