Nebraska Wesleyan committed 19 first half turnovers and never could recover as they fell to 10th-ranked Concordia University 83-60 in Great Plains Athletic Conference women's basketball action Tuesday night (Dec. 9) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln, Neb.
The Bulldogs (8-4, 2-2 GPAC) led 39-24 at halftime and extended the lead out to 30 points midway through the second half as they continued to put the Prairie Wolves away.
NWU (1-6, 0-4 GPAC) could not handle the Bulldogs defensive pressure in the first half as they gave the ball away 19 times, several of which were unforced turnovers. NWU also had trouble getting the ball in the hoop, shooting only 38.5 percent in the first half.
Melissa Tinkham had a big game for Concordia scoring a game-high 21 points on 5-9 shooting from 3-point range. Rachel Uden came off the bench to go 3-3 from 3-point range and finished with 12 points, while Kristin Miller added 10.
Freshman Shea Rasmussen was the only NWU player to reach double figures as she scored 13 points. Ashley Bordovsky had nine points and two steals.
The Prairie Wolves will try to end their six-game losing streak this Saturday when they host Buena Vista University at 3 p.m. at Snyder Arena.
