Nebraska Wesleyan was forced into a total of 31 turnovers as they fell 69-50 to Dakota Wesleyan in Great Plains Athletic Conference women's basketball action on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 18) at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D.
Nebraska Wesleyan shot just 22.7 percent in the first half (5-22) and fell behind 36-18 at halftime. The Prairie Wolves fell behind by as many as 30 points in the second half, but battled back and were only outscored by one point in the second half.
The Tigers (10-11, 3-6 GPAC) snapped their three game losing streak with the win. DWU was 22-30 from the free throw line, while NWU attempted just 11 free throw attempts hitting 10 of them.
Denae Becker came off the bench to lead NWU with 14 points and six rebounds. Becker was the lone player to reach double figures in scoring.
Four players scored in double figures for Dakota Wesleyan led by Ashley Mailey with 13 points. Allison Johnson had 12 points and Ashley Johnson and Sarah Mortenson each scored 10.
Nebraska Wesleyan, which has now lost 17 straight GPAC games, will try to get its first GPAC win of the year on Wednesday (Jan. 21) when they travel to Fremont, Neb., to take on Midland Lutheran College.
