Wolves Push #5 Northwestern to Limits

Nebraska Wesleyan led fifth-ranked Northwestern College by one point at the 13:38 mark but the Red Raiders went on a 18-5 run over the next five minutes to pull away for the 68-55 victory on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 21) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln.

The Red Raiders (15-5, 9-1 GPAC) shot 51.7 percent from the floor in the second half and outscored the Prairie Wolves 40-31 in the second 20 minutes.

Northwestern jumped out to an early eight point lead in the first half, but NWU continued to chip away at the lead and was within four points at halftime at 28-24.

The five minute span in the second half proved to be the difference in the game as NWU managed just two field goals.

Four players scored in double figures for Northwestern led by Becca Hurley who had 17 points and a team-high eight assists. Randa Hulstein scored 15 points with nine rebounds.

Nebraska Wesleyan was led by Sadie Struebing who had 13 points and led the team with eight rebounds. Katy Golden was a perfect 3-3 from the floor for 12 points, and Kristina Gould scored 11.

The Prairie Wolves will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday (Jan. 27) when they host Dana College in a GPAC game at 7:30 pm at Snyder Arena.
