Late Run Gives USF 72-64 Victory

Sioux Falls ended the game on a 13-2 run to earn a 72-64 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 14) in GPAC women's basketball action in Snyder Arena.

The Prairie Wolves led 63-59 with 3:25 to play in the game, but NWU would be held without a field goal the rest of the game as they managed just one free throw.

Sioux Falls scored on 10 of their final 12 possessions, and took the lead for good when Jamey Hofer made a lay-up with 2:11 to play.

The game featured 11 lead changes and was tied seven times. NWU's largest lead was six points early in the second half.

The Cougars (16-11, 8-8 GPAC) led 31-29 at halftime despite shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and holding NWU to just 35.5 percent shooting. The Prairie Wolves opened the second half on a 15-8 run to take a six point lead at 44-38. The teams traded leads the remainder of the contest.

Katy Golden had her second double-double of the season to lead Nebraska Wesleyan. Golden tied her career-high with 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. The only other NWU player to score in double figures was Ashley Bordovsky who added 11 points.

Sioux Falls was led by Dominique Shuler who had 21 points and five rebounds. Hofer added 15 points going 7-12 from the free throw line.

NWU (5-18, 2-14) will return home on Wednesday night (Feb. 18) when they host Midland Lutheran in GPAC action at 7:30 pm. The Prairie Wolves will wear pink uniforms on "Pink Zone" night at Snyder Arena.
