Chapman Downs NWU in AD3I Title Game

The Nebraska Wesleyan University women's basketball team made just one field goal in the first nine minutes of the second half as Chapman University extended their two point halftime lead up to 12 points as they would go on to defeat NWU, 60-48, in the AD3I West Region Tournament Championship game on Saturday (Feb. 28) in Santa Cruz, Calif.

The Prairie Wolves end the 2008-09 season with a 6-21 overall record under first year head coach Eric Jensen.

NWU battled tough early, shooting 40.5 percent from the field in the first half as they trailed only 27-25 at halftime. The second half was an offensive struggle for the Prairie Wolves going just 8-30 from the field for 26.7 percent.

Char Mae McLean made a basket at the 15:33 mark, and that would be the only made field goal of the first nine minutes of the second half for NWU as Chapman opened up a 42-30 lead. The Prairie Wolves would not get back within single digits the rest of the contest.

For NWU, senior Ashley Bordovsky was the lone player to reach double figures in scoring. Bordovsky scored 15 points in her final game as a Prairie Wolf. She leaves NWU ranked sixth all-time in career assists (244) and eighth all-time in career steals (154).

Char Mae McLean, Amy Stratbucker and Kelsie Woodard also all played their final game for the Prairie Wolves.

Chapman was led by Lauren Kamiyama with 15 points and Linday Ly who had 12 points. Andrijana Kerkez had nine points and 14 rebounds.
