Janelle Baal scored a career-high 18 points shooting 4-5 from 3-point range in her final game for the Prairie Wolves but it wasn't enough as Doane College defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, 62-57, in the season finale NWU.
NWU finishes the 2012-13 season with a 3-22, 1-19 GPAC record. Doane earns their first GPAC win of the year to improve to 6-21, 1-18 GPAC.
The Prairie Wolves looked good in the first half as they led by as many as nine points late in the first half. NWU held a 30-26 advantage at the half as Baal had 14 points in the first 20 minutes.
Doane and NWU traded leads during the second half and the Prairie Wolves led 54-50 with 3:38 to play. Doane then scored eight unanswered points to take a 58-54 with 1:52 left.
Mallory Shanahan knocked down a 3-pointer for the Prairie Wolves to pull within three with 46 seconds remaining. Doane then converted 2-2 at the free throw line and NWU came up empty on their possession to give Doane the win.
Baal ended her career with 18 in her 101st start at point guard. Shanahan scored 10 points as she was sidelined with foul trouble in the second half. Felicia TeKolste scored 16.
