Broncos Use 1st Half Run For 67-40 Win

Hastings College broke open a tie game and ended the first half on a 13-1 run and the Broncos never looked back as they defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, 67-40, in GPAC women's basketball action on Wednesday night (Feb. 6) in Hastings, Neb.

NWU tied the game at 13-13 with just over nine minutes remaining before halftime. From there, the Prairie Wolves would be held without a field goal as they managed only one free throw while the Broncos went on a 13-1 run to end the half. The Broncos held a 26-14 lead at halftime. The Prairie Wolves went 9:54 without a field goal.

In the first half, NWU shot only 19.2 percent making 5-26 from the field. Hastings was not much better hitting 25.0 percent from the floor.

Both teams picked up the offense in the second half as the Broncos went on for the win. Cami Bruckman scored 11 second half points to finish with 17 game-high points to lead all scorers.

Mallory Shanahan had 15 points to pace the Prairie Wolves in scoring. Felicia TeKolste added 12 points.
