Nebraska Wesleyan played Mount Marty to within four points in the second half but couldn't overcome the 21-point first half deficit as the Lancers defeated the Prairie Wolves 79-54 in GPAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 26) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln.
NWU trailed 38-17 at halftime as they shot only 21.2 percent from the floor. The Prairie Wolves got their offense going in the second half and shot 45.2 percent.
At one point in the second half, NWU pulled within 13 points with just over 13 minutes remaining but that was as close as they could get.
Freshman Felicia TeKolste kept NWU in the game early and finished the game with a career-high 18 points. TeKolste also pulled down six rebounds.
After being held to 1-9 shooting in the first half, Mallory Shanahan finished with a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds for her GPAC leading 10th double-double of the year.
Three players were in double figures for Mount Marty led by Kelli Norrid who came off the bench for 15 points. April Winne scored 14 and Taylor Forsch 11.
