Lancers Hand Wolves 10th Loss
Mount Marty hit 10-23 from 3-point range as the hot shooting Lancers shot past Nebraska Wesleyan, 81-56, in GPAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 15) in Yankton, S.D.
The loss was the 10th straight for the Prairie Wolves who fall to 1-10 overall and 0-7 in the GPAC. NWU finished the entire 2012 year without a conference win as the Prairie Wolves last GPAC win came in December 2011.
Mount Marty used their hot 3-point shooting in the first half to build up a 53-30 halftime lead. NWU played right with the Lancers in the second half as they were only outscored by two points in the second half.
Mallory Shanahan paced the Prairie Wolves once again with a solid double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds. Emily Leines was the other NWU player in double figures as she came off the bench to score 10 points. Courtney Cook was 9-9 at the free throw line for nine points.
The Lancers were led by April Winne who scored a game-high 22 points on 3-5 shooting from three-point range. Taylor Forsch was 5-10 from beyond the arc for 15 points, while Brittany Little also scored 15 points.
NWU will now be off for two weeks until they play a nonconference game at St. Catherine's on Dec. 29.
