Concordia used a stifling full court pressure defense to force Nebraska Wesleyan into 36 turnovers as the Bulldogs defeated the Prairie Wolves 99-48 in GPAC women's basketball action on Tuesday night (Nov. 22) at Walz Complex in Seward, Neb.

The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team struggled over the weekend in Wisconsin as they lost both of their contests at the Wisconsin Lutheran Tournament in Milwaukee, Wis. NWU lost 71-45 on Friday (Nov. 18) to Carthage College, then fell 72-46 to Bethel (Minn.) in the consolation game on Saturday (Nov. 19).

Mallory Shanahan hit a running layup with 0:10 left to put Nebraska Wesleyan up by one point, then Shanahan knocked away a pass to give NWU the ball and seal a 85-82 victory over Buena Vista University in the 2011-12 women’s basketball season opener for both teams on Tuesday (Nov. 15) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln.

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has released its 2011-12 Preseason Basketball Coaches’ polls for both the men and the women. Both the Nebraska Wesleyan University men and women were picked to finish 10th in the respective GPAC polls. Returning GPAC regular season champion Northwestern College is picked to win the men, while reigning NAIA II National Champion Northwestern women were the pick to repeat on the women’s side.

Nebraska Wesleyan University head women’s basketball coach Eric Jensen has released the names of 12 recruits who are planning to attend NWU and intend to play women’s basketball for the Prairie Wolves in 2011-12.
