Shea Rasmussen had the ball stripped away as she drove in for the game-winning lay-up with 1.4 seconds to play as Doane held on for a 61-58 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in Great Plains Athletic Conference women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 12) in Crete, Neb.

Nebraska Wesleyan pulled within four points with just under three minutes to play, but that was as close as they could get as Elmhurst College held on for the 79-68 victory in NCAA Division III women’s basketball action on Wednesday night (Dec. 9) in Snyder Arena.

9th-ranked Mount Marty College jumped out to a 32-14 halftime lead, which proved to be too much to overcome for Nebraska Wesleyan as the Lancers defeated the Prairie Wolves, 64-44, in GPAC women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 5) in Yankton, S.D.

Sadie Struebing recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds and Shea Rasmussen scored a season-high 21 points to lead the Nebraska Wesleyan University women to a 69-61 victory over Dana College in Great Plains Athletic Conference basketball action on Tuesday night (Dec. 1) in Snyder Arena.

The Nebraska Wesleyan women fell behind by 27 points at halftime and were never able to recover as they lost 91-67 to Buena Vista University on Saturday on the second day of the Simpson College Storm Classic in Indianola, Iowa.  NWU lost on Friday night to Simpson, 88-66.

Fourth-ranked Hastings College was way too much for the Nebraska Wesleyan women as they spoiled their home opener by defeating the Prairie Wolves, 103-58, in the Great Plains Athletic Conference opening game on Tuesday (Nov. 24) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln, Neb.

For the first time since the 2000-01 season, the Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team has opened the season with a 2-0 record after their 78-73 victory over Edgewood College on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 21) at the Cornell College Classic in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Both the Nebraska Wesleyan men’s and women’s basketball teams will open play for the 2009-10 season this weekend when they open the year at tournaments.  The NWU men will play in the Bill Merris Tournament in Jacksonville, Ill., while the NWU women open the season at the Cornell College classic in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

The 2009-10 Great Plains Athletic Conference women's basketball preseason coaches' poll was released on Wednesday (Oct. 14).  Nebraska Wesleyan received 18 votes and was picked 13th in the poll.  Points were awarded on a 12-1 basis and coaches' could not vote for their own team.
